Mark Sierzchula - Blight Rayner

I have a passion for innovative multi-discipline design, adopting a holistic viewpoint of our environment as a singular landscape, synthesising all disciplines to craft memorable ‘people’ places.

Mark Sierzchula

BDes(Hons1), MArch (QUT)

Senior Associate

Mark Sierzchula graduated with First Class Honours with a Bachelor of Design from the Queensland University of Technology in 2011, and received his Master of Architecture degree in 2014. He had previously worked for 17 years in the architectural profession primarily with Arkhefield where he worked on residential projects and on the River Quay Restaurants in Brisbane’s South Bank.

He worked with Jayson Blight and Michael Rayner at Cox Rayner Architects from 2011 to 2018 on renowned projects such as the Brisbane CityCat Terminals from Hawthorn to the University of Queensland and the competition-winning National Maritime Museum of China. He was lead designer of the new Fortitude Valley State Secondary College, Brisbane’s first vertical high school, and worked extensively on the Brisbane Metro and Cross River Rail transport developments.

After Jayson and Michael established Blight Rayner Architecture, he left the Cox Rayner practice and joined NRA Colab, working there for three years most notably designing and documenting the Qantas Founders Museum Airpark, an 8000m² canopy structure for the museum’s Boeing 707 and 747 aircraft. He also designed and led the project team for the two multi-residential towers and public park being developed at 281-299 Montague Road in West End.

Mark reunited with Jayson and Michael at Blight Rayner in 2021 as a Senior Associate, to help guide the practice’s design ethos and project management, as well as mentoring our graduates and younger architects.
