Akiko Spencer - Blight Rayner

My role is essentially attention to detail. I am fastidious about how components and materials come together, in part to facilitate buildability and durability, and in part to enrich experience of the element that derives from well-considered detail design.

Akiko Spencer

BArch (OsakaCU)

Senior Designer

Akiko Spencer is a Senior Designer (and a registered architect in Japan) with a wealth of experience beginning in the Sydney office of Conybeare Morrison & Partners in 2002. Akiko is one of a number of staff who came to Blight Rayner after working with Jayson Blight and Michael Rayner at their previous practice for almost 15 years.

Akiko specialises in design development and documentation and has extensive experience in medium and high-density residential projects including Mosaic in Fortitude Valley, Allisee on the Gold Coast, and Hamilton Harbour on Brisbane’s Northshore. She also played a significant role in detailing and documenting the Singapore Management University’s Headquarters, a mixed-use project including educational, office, and recreational facilities.

Since joining Blight Rayner in 2018, Akiko has been a key team member on 360 Queen Street, a high-rise office tower currently under construction in Brisbane’s CBD. Her other detail documentation work has been on the Marian Centre at Brigidine College in Indooroopilly, the New Performing Arts Venue at South Bank, the 6 Hassall Street Engineering Innovation Hub in Parramatta, and the St Margaret’s Anglican Girls’ School Sports Precinct in Clayfield.
