John Campbell - Blight Rayner

I am inspired by the historical evolution of both classical and modern design, and in understanding the underlying core structures in great architecture.

John Campbell

BDesign(Arch), MArch (QUT), BOAQ

Senior Associate

John Campbell is an architect with over 15 years’ experience at three firms – NRA Collaborative, Ellivo Architects and Ellenberg Fraser as a Team Leader.

John’s major projects before joining Blight Rayner were Lotus Tower in Kangaroo Point Brisbane, and the PM Residential towers in Port Melbourne on which he was the Project Architect.

Since its beginning in early mid-2018, John has been the Project Architect for our international competition winning Glasshouse Theatre at the Queensland Performing Arts Centre integration into the Queensland Performing Arts Centre on Brisbane’s South Bank. He has been responsible for translating the design into detail resolution, resolving the technical complexities of this multi-modal theatre complex, and maintaining staff and consultant momentum throughout the project.

John has also delivered Blight Rayner’s thirteen-storey commercial tower Jubilee Place as the project architect through the design and documentation phases, a six-star Green Star building, completed the design and early works packages of our 200 Turbot Street project with Mirvac, and led our 340 Queen Street small office / mixed use project.

More recently John has led the close-out of site works for the Kangaroo Point Green Bridge, developed master planning and reference design projects such as the North Australian Arts Precinct, Townsville Concert Hall and Gold Coast Indoor Entertainment Arena, and led our Jinndii Waijung project with the Lady Musgrave Trust, a series of homes for victims of domestic viole at risk of homelessness.

John was appointed an Associate of Blight Rayner in 2019 and was elevated to Senior Associate in 2021. He is a key contributor to our firm’s strategy planning and management processes and is our team leader of our Reconciliation Action Plan.
