Senior Associate
Ashneel Maharaj graduated with honours from the Queensland University of Technology in 2006, being awarded the Royal Australian Institute of Architects Graduation Prize.
Ashneel has worked in the industry for over 20 years and prior to joining Blight Rayner in 2017 he had worked with well-respected practices including Elizabeth Watson Brown Architects and Architectus.
Ashneel has tutored design, as well as technology subjects at Queensland University of Technology and at The University of Queensland. He has also been invited as a guest judge at final year design critiques at both universities.
As part of the Australian Institute of Architects Awards Program, Ashneel has been on the Regional Awards Juries for New Houses, Multi-Residential and Education Project Categories.
Ashneel has been Project Architect on education projects including the award-winning St Sebastian’s Primary School; on residential projects including the University of Queensland Women’s College Student Accommodation; and the Queensland Rail Roma Street Heritage Terminal Restoration.
Since joining Blight Rayner Architecture in 2021, Ashneel has been the project architect on the Marian Centre STEM building at Brigidine College Indooroopilly, the National Rugby Training Centre at Ballymore, UQ Rugby Club at UQ St Lucia Campus, Norths Rugby Club alteration at Wavell Heights, 240 Queen Street office foyer and frontage refurbishment in the Brisbane CBD, and the new 60 Queen Street commercial tower in the Brisbane CBD. He prepared the Logan Urban Sports Centre PVR Reference Design for the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Ashneel was appointed a Senior Associate of Blight Rayner in 2022 and has oversight of our Quality Management System.
