Madeleine Nicol graduated with a Master of Architecture with Distinction from Queensland University of Technology in 2016 and gained per practice registration in 2019.
Madeleine’s experience prior to joining Blight Rayner in 2022 was at Arqus Design, Elenberg Fraser, Cavill Architects, and MA+Co in Melbourne. During this time, Madeleine worked as Project Lead across of diverse portfolio of projects encompassing, civic, commercial, hospitality, residential, and multi-residential projects.
At Blight Rayner, Madeleine has focused on redevelopment projects at two leading private schools – St Margaret’s and St Aidan’s Anglican Girls Schools. Madeleine contributed to the development of the Campus Masterplan for both schools. For St Aidan’s, she was the Lead Architect on Aidan’s Place, receiving a commendation at the AIA Greater Brisbane Regional Architecture Awards in 2024. Madeleine is currently the Lead Architect on a new Exam Building and Senior Centre for St Aidan’s. For St Margaret’s, Madeleine was the Lead Architect on St Margaret’s Tuckshop + Forest.
Madeleine played a key role in both design and documentation on the Jubilee Hotel Redevelopment in Fortitude Valley. She played an instrumental role in the Refurbishment of the Lyric Theatre and was the Project Architect developing the documentation for the future refurbishment of the Concert Hall, Playhouse and Terraces at the Queensland Performing Arts Centre in South Bank.
Madeleine was appointed an Associate of Blight Rayner Architecture in 2025.
