Senior Associate

Madeleine Offermann graduated with a Master of Architecture from Queensland University of Technology in 2011 and gained her practice registration in 2014. Before joining Blight Rayner in 2016, she worked for three and a half years with Channon Architects, principally on single and multi-residential projects. Prior to this, Madeleine worked for the United Nations High Commission for Refugees in Geneva. Madeleine was appointed as one of Blight Rayner’s first three Associates in 2019.

Madeleine has tutored at Queensland University of Technology since 2013 and has published work on the future of Australian cities and the role of the architect after a disaster. In 2014, her paper, ‘Responsible Reconstruction: the Architect’s Role’ was published in Open House International, and she presented a paper titled ‘The future of Australian Urbanism’ at the UIA Conference in Durban. Most recently, she presented ‘At Home in the City: Addressing Urban Isolation in the Context of Australian Cities’ (a joint paper with Hannah Slater from UrbanGrowth) at the Livable Cities Conference in Adelaide.

Madeleine opened Blight Rayner’s Sydney office in 2019 and has been the Project Architect for our 6 Hassall Street development in Parramatta which incorporates the Western Sydney University Engineering Innovation Hub.

Madeleine returned to Queensland in 2023 and was the project architect for St Margaret’s Anglican Girls School Sports Precinct and for St Aidan’s Anglican Girls School Sports Precinct and she led the Master Plan for St Aidan’s main campus at Corinda. She was the project architect for new high-end residences at Ascot and Highgate Hill, and was joint project architect for the 35 storey 360 Queen Street office tower in the Brisbane CBD.

Madeleine relocated to Noosa in 2024 and now runs Blight Rayner’s Sunshine Coast office.
