Gary Carter

Senior Architect
DipArch (QIT), FRAIA

Gary Carter worked at Daryl Jackson Architects for 28 years, the last two as Principal of the Brisbane Studio.

He began his career at Robin Gibson Architects, working on the design of the Concert Hall of the Queensland Performing Arts Centre, and the design and documentation of the State Library of Queensland.

Notable projects he played major roles on with Daryl Jackson are the Brisbane Cricket Ground (Gabba), Couran Cove on Stradbroke Island, the UQ Australian Institute of BioEngineering and Nanotechnology, and the UQ Biosciences Precinct.

In the last decade, Gary has specialised in hospital and health services architecture.  He was responsible for the Caloundra Health Services Redevelopment, North Lakes Health Precinct, Redcliffe Hospital, the Herston Imaging Research Facility at Royal Brisbane Hospital, Cairns Base Hospital, and the Australian Institute of Tropical Health and Medicine (AITHM) at James Cook University.

In bringing his exceptional expertise in health architecture, coupled with his long developed Quality Assurance and construction phase methodologies, Gary also acts as a strong mentor to our younger staff.

I'm bringing my wealth of health sector knowledge and skills to Blight Rayner, but I'm also enjoying mentoring the younger staff while at the same time returning to hands-on detailing and construction packaging.
