Chris Lewis joined Blight Rayner after four years with Woods Bagot in Brisbane. He has a wide range of experience in the commercial reality of design and construction. His drive for learning was previously stimulated by an internship in Europe with one of Belgium’s most recognised small practices where he worked on mid-scale projects.
His most recent experience, and now his most specialised skill, is in CBD commercial office architecture, specifically the 1 William Street Government tower and the proposed 80 Ann Street. Furthermore, his experience also extends to mixed-use towers where he was responsible for the design documentation and coordination for the 34 storey Westin Hotel + Apartments at 111 Mary Street.
Chris is honing his experience to focus both on design development and documentation of medium-large scale buildings, and an active engagement with contractors in D&C and Managing Contract procurement methodologies. This latter skill is, in our view, under-supplied and helps facilitate Blight Rayner’s design and project management capabilities.
The most exciting part of architecture to me is seeing how a building fits into the city or place, in other words, what its relationship is to other buildings and spaces in it’s immediate as well as wider context.
