Simon Swain is a highly versatile architect with over 25 years experience and skills in design, master planning and urban design through to detailed documentation resolution, project administration and project management.

Simon has worked with several significant architects over his career including in Sydney, Tony Caro and Associates (1999-2005), Candalepas and Associates (2006), Alex Popov and Associates (2007), Donavan Hill (2008-2013 and 2014-16), and Richards and Spence (2019-2020).

 

He has worked on a number of renowned university and commercial projects including the $260 million Translational Research Institute at Princess Alexandra Hospital where he was the Project Architect, and the $600 million 480 Queen Street office tower in the Brisbane CBD where he was the client’s advocate. Simon has worked on the planning of several public space projects including in Sydney the Thresholds for the Sydney Olympic Park, the Glebe Point Road Streetscape Revitalisation and the Darlinghurst Road Streetscape Revitalisation.

 

Simon understands that a successful project often entails a wider scope than may have been envisaged by the original brief. He is heavily involved in research aimed at leading innovation in advanced building and environmental systems, and is particularly expert navigating procurement processes through close collaboration with both clients and contractors.
