QPAC Flexible Performance Studios

Queensland Performing Arts Centre, South Bank

Located beneath the Glass House Theatre, the Flexible Performance Studios are designed as adaptable black-box environments supporting diverse performing arts and public functions.

Large street-facing glazing fosters visual engagement with the precinct. The studios operate independently via a Russell Street entrance, with direct access to the Green Room, Stage Door, and back-of-house services. Configurable into two spaces (14m x 14m and 12m x 14m), each with 5.4m ceilings, the studios support varied stage orientations and seating formats, including retractable and sprung floor options.

A dual acoustic box-in-box system enables concurrent, inaudible performances with the Glass House. Ancillary spaces include a plating area for catered events and accessible dressing rooms for professional and educational use. Finishes align with the Glass House’s architectural language, ensuring material continuity across the precinct.
