East Village Residential

Cannon Hill, Brisbane

This three-part residential precinct forms the centrepiece of a 5.25ha masterplanned community in suburban Cannon Hill.

The three buildings are each 7 levels with their rooftops connected by bridges enabling residents to explore pools, gardens, and other amenities. Narrow pedestrian laneways divide the buildings at ground level, linking a crescent-shaped public park to the precinct’s retail high street.

A concrete-structured canopy over the street supports deep planted gardens, enabling the dining outlets to buzz without affecting visual and acoustic privacy to apartments above. Bridges at first level across the laneways allow residents to interconnect through the buildings and enhance their social life.

Folded perforated metal screens provide flexible privacy and sun protection to the apartments as they slide along tracks, thereby altering the aesthetic from time to time.

The buildings are among others that Blight Rayner is designing for the masterplanned community.
