Perry Gustafson

Construction Technology Leader

Perry Gustafson studied architecture at the University of Minnesota, but entered the US military in 1964 before completing his degree. He now has 32 years’ experience in the architectural industry, principally at Cox Rayner Architects from 1996 to 2016.

In these 20 years, Perry was a senior documentor on most of the practice’s major projects, including:

Health:

Princess Alexandra Hospital Redevelopment

Justice:

Brisbane Magistrates Court, Ipswich Justice Precinct

Education:

University of Queensland Oral Health Centre, Griffith University Health Centre

Commercial:

Kings Square K2 Tower in Perth, One One One Eagle Street in Brisbane

Cultural:

Museum of Tropical Queensland, National Maritime Museum of China

Public:

BCEC on Grey Street, Brisbane Ferry Terminals, Anna Meares Velodrome

Bridges:

Goodwill Pedestrian Bridge, Brisbane

Perry is expert in all aspects of detailing large and small projects, including unconventional structures and façade systems. He has extensive knowledge of new construction and fabrication technologies including cross laminated timber (CLT) structural systems and façade systems for maximum environmental performance.

He is both a documentation project leader at Blight Rayner and senior mentor to our younger staff.

My greatest thrill is in finding new ways to put parts together, especially when they form an integral whole.
