Madeleine John is an architectural student studying at The University of Queensland. She has a Bachelor of Regional and Town Planning from the University of Queensland, and in 2013 was awarded a scholarship to study at the University of South Carolina.
Prior to studying architecture, Madeleine gained extensive experience in town planning, working at RPS. Madeleine has a diverse professional background, starting out in the hospitality industry, principally as a conference and events coordinator at the Emporium Hotel in Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley, and also working in real estate with the Anthony John Group.
At Blight Rayner, Madeleine is gaining varied experience on different types and scales of architecture, including the No. 1 Brisbane Residential Tower in Queen Street, The Lanes Town Centre (retail) on the Gold Coast, and an orphanage in Arusha, Tanzania. She is proficient in AutoCAD, Revit and Adobe Creative Suite, and is learning Rhino 3D software technology.
I am enjoying the flexibility of being able to work while studying, and learning on the job while working on real projects. I am particularly passionate about unifying my knowledge in urban planning to deliver a holistic approach to architecture.
